The faculty of the Department of Kazakh Language and Turkic Studies is also working on the creation of the International Association of Kazakh Language Teachers. We hope to collect the best international practices in teaching the Kazakh language and culture to share it with colleagues throughout Kazakhstan and the world. We hope to turn Nazarbayev University into an international center for the study of the Kazakh language and culture. The Department of Kazakh Language and Turkology also introduces courses in Turkic studies, including languages, literature and culture of many different historical and modern Turkic peoples since the VIII century. It also allows us an academic study of Kazakh studies in a wider context, since Kazakh belongs to a family of Turkic languages and cultures. The Department of Kazakh Language and Turkology strives to become a high-quality department, covering modern research, which includes modern theory, and thus make an important contribution to the field of Turkology. We also hope to establish research relations with the current major centers of Europe, the USA, Turkey and other countries of the Turkic world. Given that the International Turkic Academy (Astana) also seeks to promote Turkology, in cooperation with colleagues around the world, Nazarbayev University can become a major world center for Turkology.
